Textured green glass carafe by Gioielli, Italian art glass from the 1970s

An Italian serving set from the 1970s, comprising a carafe and glasses bearing the Gioielli signature. The green-tinted glass transitions smoothly from deeper tones at the base toward lighter hues near the spout, creating an effect of depth characteristic of Italian art glass from that era.

The carafe's form combines a classical silhouette with a distinctly textured surface. The facturing covering the entire vessel lends it an organic, almost natural quality light refracts across the irregularities, revealing the full richness of green tones within the glass. A narrow neck measuring just two and a half centimetres in diameter opens into a fuller body, crowned by a flared rim that facilitates precise pouring. The accompanying glasses echo the same texture and colouring, forming a cohesive set.

Gioielli operated during the golden age of Italian glass design. The 1970s brought a fascination with coloured glass in expressive forms Italian workshops experimented with surface texturing techniques, moving away from the smooth, minimalist shapes of the previous decade. Decorative glassware of this period merged artisanal tradition with bold colour palettes, finding its place both in private homes and design exhibitions across Europe.

The set serves well for presenting wines, liqueurs, or water during gatherings where the aesthetics of tableware become part of the overall arrangement. Standing twenty-four centimetres tall, the carafe offers comfortable handling, while its vivid green hue enlivens both classic and contemporary interiors.

Condition is good. The set shows no significant flaws — the glass retains its full transparency and colour intensity.
