Danish single bed in teak veneer, Scandinavian design with original slatted base

A Danish bed that embodies the core principles of Scandinavian furniture making: restraint in form, respect for material, and construction built to last generations. Teak veneer covers the entire frame, giving it the warm, rich tone that became synonymous with Danish design.

The design relies on a simple yet refined structure. The frame seamlessly connects gently curved headboard and footboard panels with subtly tapered legs that lift the piece off the floor, lending it visual lightness. Both end panels share the same form — a soft arch crowning a rectangular plane — creating a cohesive, symmetrical silhouette. Wooden slats provide proper mattress ventilation and flexible support.

Danish furniture design developed around the conviction that good design should be accessible rather than exclusive. Beds conceived in this spirit were meant to combine craft-level quality with forms universal enough to suit various interiors, from urban apartments to suburban homes. Teak, imported from Southeast Asia, became the defining material of Scandinavian modernism: durable, moisture-resistant, with a distinctive grain pattern that deepens over time.

The bed accommodates a mattress measuring 85 by 190 centimetres, making it suitable for one person. It works equally well in a bedroom, guest room, or teenager's space. The slatted base is included.

The piece is in good condition, with traces of use typical for furniture of this age. The surface shows minor scratches and small scuffs. Small losses have been filled. The more noticeable traces of use are also documented in the photographs, so that the actual state of preservation is conveyed as faithfully as possible.
