Description
Danish cabinet from the 1970s, veneered in mahogany. This piece embodies the understated elegance of Scandinavian design — a straightforward form with balanced proportions that merges refinement with everyday practicality. The warm brown tones of the mahogany veneer give the cabinet its distinctive character while remaining versatile enough to complement various interior styles.
The construction divides into two storage levels. The upper section features two drawers fitted with decorative handles that create a symmetrical accent across the front. Below, hinged doors with a working lock provide secure storage when needed. Inside, adjustable shelves allow the interior to be configured according to changing requirements. A plinth base, also finished in mahogany veneer, grounds the piece visually and completes its clean silhouette.
The 1970s marked a period of maturity for Danish Modern furniture, when established design principles met more accessible production methods. Veneer applied to board construction achieved the look of solid wood at a more democratic price point, bringing quality Scandinavian design within reach of a broader audience. Danish manufacturers had by then perfected the balance between aesthetics and functionality, creating pieces intended to serve households for generations.
This cabinet works equally well in a living room, home office, or bedroom. The lockable compartment keeps documents or valuables organised and secure, while adjustable shelving accommodates items of varying heights. The generous top surface provides additional display space for a lamp, books, or decorative objects.
The piece is in good condition with signs of use consistent with its age. Minor scratches and small chips are visible on the surfaces, and slight losses have been professionally filled. The original key is included. The more noticeable traces of use are also documented in the photographs, so that the actual state of preservation is conveyed as faithfully as possible.
