Club Champagne Stemmed Glasses by Mats Borgström for Sagaform, Coloured Glass, Sweden, 1990s

Club champagne glasses designed by Mats Borgström for Swedish brand Sagaform represent Scandinavian design sensibility of the 1990s, combining minimalist form with bold use of colour. The set features stemmed glasses crafted from coloured glass in red and green tones alongside clear glass, creating a striking chromatic arrangement.

The slender silhouette follows an elongated, tapered bowl set upon a thin stem. Proportions characteristic of champagne flutes narrow diameter paired with considerable height concentrate aromas while allowing bubbles to rise gracefully through the liquid. Clear glass showcases the colour of the drink itself, while tinted versions add character to the table setting, transforming the way light passes through the walls.

Sagaform emerged in Sweden as a brand bridging functionality with accessible design. The 1990s brought Scandinavian design back to clean forms and simple lines, yet simultaneously opened space for experimentation with colour. Collaboration with designers like Mats Borgström allowed the brand to build recognition in the tableware market, where Swedish glass tradition reaching back to the glassworks of Småland met contemporary approaches to everyday objects.

These glasses suit both formal dinners and casual gatherings. Standing nineteen centimetres tall, they command elegant presence at the table, while varied colours help guests identify their own glass throughout the evening. The set also works as a decorative element — the glass forms display beautifully on open shelving or in glazed cabinets.

The glasses remain in good condition with no significant flaws. The glass is clean, rims intact, and the coloured tints retain their original intensity.
