Decorative Art Deco table set – metal tray with glass flacons, European craftsmanship

An elegant table set combining Art Nouveau ornamentation with the geometric precision characteristic of Art Deco style. A metal tray nearly forty centimetres in diameter forms the foundation of the composition, upon which transparent glass flacons are arranged. The ensemble creates a cohesive decorative accent that draws attention through its subtle form and the interplay of reflective surfaces.

The construction relies on the contrasting pairing of cool metal with delicate glass. The tray serves both practical and aesthetic purposes its edges feature motifs typical of early modernist ornamentation, blending the flowing lines of Art Nouveau with more decisive, symmetrical accents. The flacons of varying heights create a dynamic grouping, their proportions carefully considered so that each element remains visible while harmonising with the others.

European decorative arts at the turn of eras from Art Nouveau through Art Deco developed a particular sensitivity toward everyday objects. Table sets were not merely functional vessels but manifestations of taste and status. Silver-plated or chromed metal paired with glass became a favoured combination among designers seeking elegance without excessive ostentation. This aesthetic survived subsequent decades, becoming today a recognisable hallmark of interwar design.

The set works beautifully as a centrepiece for special occasion table settings or as a permanent decorative element on a sideboard or dining room credenza. Its compact dimensions allow for placement even on smaller surfaces while maintaining a distinct presence in the space.

Condition is good. The set shows no significant flaws, which for decorative objects from this period represents particular collector value.
