Description
Royal Copenhagen 1982 Annual Mug, Denmark. Designed by Inge-Lise Koefoed.
A collector’s mug from the iconic Annual Mug series by the Danish manufacturer Royal Copenhagen – one of Europe’s leading porcelain manufacturers, in continuous operation since 1775. The 1982 model was designed by Inge-Lise Koefoed – the artist responsible for the distinctive, more graphic and stylistically bold designs of that decade. The strong contrast between black and colour accents (orange / cobalt) stands in stark contrast to Royal Copenhagen’s earlier, more classical and ornamental decorations. This marks the moment when the Annual series began to move towards the modern illustration and design of the 1980s. Each mug in this series was produced in a single year only – meaning that the 1982 design was never repeated. The form remains minimalist, but the relief surface of the decoration gives it a sculptural depth – it is no longer just a vessel, but a small collector’s item.
Condition: The item is in its original condition and may have minor scratches and normal signs of wear.
