A five-armed candlestick by Georg Jensen from the 1970s, crafted in polished metal with a gold finish. This piece embodies the sculptural sensibility that defined the Danish manufactory organic forms flow seamlessly into functional design, creating an object equally striking whether lit or displayed on its own.

The structure centres on a solid stem from which five arms extend outward like branches. Each arm terminates in a saucer-shaped holder sized for standard candles. With a width exceeding forty centimetres and a height of just under fifteen, the candlestick emphasises horizontal spread, distributing light points across its full span. The polished metal surface catches and multiplies candlelight, producing a visual effect far richer than five flames alone might suggest.

Georg Jensen established his Copenhagen workshop in 1904, bringing together training as a sculptor with the craft of silversmithing. This dual perspective artist and artisan became the firm's signature for over a century. By the 1970s, the manufactory had expanded beyond traditional silver, exploring metals in various finishes while maintaining what mattered most: precision of proportion and a sculptural approach to even the most utilitarian forms.

This candlestick works beautifully as a centrepiece for formal dining or as a standalone decorative object on a sideboard or mantelpiece. The extended arms require a surface of adequate width, rewarding the space with an elegant distribution of light along its length.
