Description
A piggy bank, Portuguese ceramics – hand-decorated, 1970s.
A charming money box made of ceramic in Portugal – a country with a strong tradition of ceramic craftsmanship, where such forms were created as a combination of a functional and decorative object. A model with a soft, rounded shape, featuring a characteristically simplified, almost illustrative face. Delicate decoration in the form of small, hand-painted floral motifs and subtle cobalt details lends the piece a lightness and a folk, Mediterranean character. Money boxes of this type were particularly popular in the second half of the 20th century – often handmade from faience and individually decorated, which means that each piece has a slightly different character.
Condition: The item is in its original condition and may have minor scratches and normal signs of wear.
